Press Release - Amendola Expands Production

Written By Jeff Amendola 16 Oct 2018
  • New 5,500 square foot production facility to expand capacity
  • Intimate facility will allow consistent quality assurance
  • Factory partner focused on ethical production of cigars

DURHAM, NC, July 12, 2018 – Durham-based Amendola Family Cigar Company today announced it has partnered with the Tabacalera G. Kafie y Cia factory in Danli, Honduras to grow its production capabilities in support of increased U.S. demand for premium, hand-rolled cigars. “We chose Tabacalera G. Kafie y Cia because we are quickly selling out of our current stocks and they have the ability to meet our substantially increased production demands. They are renowned for their ethical treatment of their workers and their commitment to quality control,” said Jeffrey Amendola, founder and president, Amendola Family Cigars. “This is a unique opportunity for us to indirectly invest in the economy of Honduras by engaging in a long-term partnership with a debt-free business that shares our worldviews.

Amendola will release the first production made in partnership with Tabacalera G. Kafie y Cia in July of 2018. These 11 lines include sought after blends such as the Amendola Signature, Box Press Primeaux Habano, the La Famiglia Robusto Maduro and the Petit Box Press Corona San Andreas, among others. Amendola Family Cigars produced more than 30,000 cigars in 2017 and projects to increase that production rate by 30 percent in 2018. This increased production demand coupled with the importance of maintaining quality for their awarded brands drove their search for a new production partner. “Partners like Jeffrey and the Amendola Family Cigar Company are exactly the right fit for our factory,” said Gaby Kafie, founder, Tabacalera G. Kafie y Cia. “We pride ourselves on our ability to produce custom, quality cigars, and Amendola Family Cigar Company’s commitment to quality and ethical sourcing are closely aligned with our core values.” Tabacalera G. Kafie y Cia is a boutique cigar factory located in a 5,500 square foot building in the Danli region of Honduras.

The awarded factory has been making cigars since 2013. Though an intimate facility, Tabacalera G. Kafie features modern amenities, such as air conditioning to keep workers comfortable, and a draw test machine to ensure consistency in their production. The factory employs 20 highly talented staff including 12 rollers, two master blenders, a leaf buyer and a maestro.
